From The Pastor's Pen

Christmas Time

We are at the end of 2006. A new year soon begins.  But first, we have a wonderful time of giving to celebrate—Christmas!  Let’s examine a few Christmas meanings for us today.

On the night Jesus was born, a bright shining star burst open the night sky and the voices of a myriad of angels split the silence with God’s announcement:  “My Son is born!” The GIFT of Jesus is NO secret!

“For unto you is born this day in the city of David, a Savior, Who is Christ the Lord.” So let’s DECLARE HIM today and not keep this good news a secret to ourselves. JESUS is THE MESSAGE to be declaring.

On the night Jesus was born, God was keeping His promises prophesied over the course of thousands of years.  The Messiah—born, as a babe in a manger, came in the form of a man in order to deliver man from sin.  God’s bold declaration of LOVE was made in powerful proclamation and fulfillment.  No one could deny the reality of the baby in Mary’s arms.  The truth remains:  John 3:16-17

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

Let us declare and demonstrate that love today—Jesus is the GIFT to prove God’s caring.

On the night Jesus was born, hope was reborn into a dark and dying world. It had been 400 years since the prophetic word was fresh; now God’s visitation was fresh and alive. God wants to be energetically and passionately involved with His people. Some think He created the world and withdrew to leave us to our own devices.  NOT SO. God IS INVOLVED intricately in our lives. There is absolutely no more personal involvement possible than to tangibly enter our world by sending His own Son to be born in flesh and blood.  God is saying to those whom He created—I WANT YOU DELIVERED, SAVED, FILLED WITH HOPE and LIFE!  His message still brings deliverance, salvation, hope and life today.  Jesus is the LIFE God wants us sharing.

During this precious time of year, let’s freely share HIM with needy people all around us in a dark and dying world.  Jesus—God’s wonderful GIFT—is STILL giving today.  MERRY CHRISTMAS!
